Volunteer With WPRF

Get InvolvedThe Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation provides volunteer opportunities year-round.  Any individual or group can get involved.  WPRF volunteers can help with trail and park clean ups, fundraising events, park surveys, and more!  Volunteers are also welcome to share their diverse talents as an event photographer, musician or any other talent you have that is fit to share.

Board Member
Are you passionate about parks? Do you love our local trails and open spaces? Would you like to help make a community-wide impact by ensuring our parks, trails, and open spaces are supported, maintained, and meeting the needs of Whatcom County citizens?

You could be just what the Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation is looking for!  By joining the Board, you will have a powerful voice in the direction of the Foundation.

Board member duties include: attending monthly board meetings and sub-committee meetings as needed, participating in fundraising efforts, and contributing to ongoing projects, events, and community outreach.  Contact us to learn more.

Committee Members  Committees meet 1-2 times per month.

Development Committee: help plan fundraisers, campaigns, membership drives, and events for the foundation.

Marketing and Communications Committee: help write our bimonthly e-newsletter The Park Bench, update social media postings, attend community events on behalf of the Foundation, and support the Board and Development Committee’s efforts.

“Table Brigade” – Represent the Foundation  at festivals, farmer’s markets, health fairs, races, etc.  We provide training and supplies – flyers, brochures, trail maps, displays.  Share the goods works of the Foundation with the public!

Ad-Hoc committees may form on an as needed basis for specific events or programs, such as our annual auction, summer walking series, or work parties.
