Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation is proud to partner with the Port of Bellingham, Bellingham International Airport, and City of Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department to host this event.

Normally closed to the public, this section will be open to traverse on foot or by bicycle from Kope Road on the north end, along the airport access road, through to Marine Drive on the south end, then returning back to Kope Road. The entire trail is approximately 1.75 miles round-trip, over varying terrain.

In addition to providing open access to this area, officials from the Port will be on hand to share information about the proposed Airport Trail Plan. Kids and adults alike will love exploring the natural flora and fauna with a nature scavenger hunt activity provided by Brio Laundry. The information and refreshment stop is located in a beautiful meadow and provides an excellent viewing area for planes.

Walking or biking in?
Guests walking or biking in are welcome to start and finish from the Lockwood property entrance at 1238 Marine Drive. There is no nearby parking on the Marine Drive end of the route. Please follow the parking directions below if your are driving to the event site.

Driving In?
All guests planning to drive to the site should park along the East side of Kope Rd.  From I-5, exit onto Slater Road and head west. Turn left onto Rural Avenue, then left again on to Kope Road. Follow Kope to the end of the road.  There is a drop-off point and turn-around at the end of the road.  Cars should turn around and park facing North on the East side of Kope Road.  Volunteers will be on site to assist with parking and directions.
